TO THE CAST AND CREW OF BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!
What an amazing week for us. Our show was even better and the students were celebrities
for the rest of the week! I am so proud of what they accomplished together!
We received so many compliments about our behavior, professionalism, respect and work ethic.
People were impressed with our show and the ability to bring such a large show to the festival and it all be so organized
and calm (or at least it appeared so to them). Then we received compliments on the talent level and production quality!
Some of our students even heard it said that we were a performing arts magnet school!
A huge thank you to those parents that traveled with us and the chaperones that made it all
possible! Without them, we would never have been able to go! They are truly troupers! I must say major thanks
to Chrissie, Nick and Bryce who did not sleep much and kept the kids accountable each day. To Big Byrd Larberg our personal
truck driver and scene shop/costume mechanic---hugs and kisses! You are awesome! To Mr. and Mrs. Nicandros---I
knew it would be awesome when we pulled up and you were there with food! I cannot wait to see the picture documentary
of this one! Thanks for believing in me and making it all happen when we got there. To Barbara---all I can say
is AMAZING!!!! Thank you! Karen--you made us look awesome! I truly appreciated each and every costume--you
made us shine! To Lisa and Cynthia--you guys were there all week! I love sending you shopping! The stories
we have to tell! Thanks also for the mommy points with Nathan for the game.
To the seniors--may this be the culminations of your high school theatre work and may it be
remembered and treasured for ever! You never balked at a challenge and you worked hard and earned. I hope that
each of you learned that nothing in life is free and sometimes it doesn't matter what someone else has or gets but it is all
about what you do with what you have yourself! Stop looking over your shoulder and look forward and make the most of
what is there in front of you! Let us know how you are doing and make plans to come home for 42nd Street and the Alumni
Reception after the show. We will post details soon. Be strong, fly far and know that we are there for you if
you start to fall...but most important dream big and try!
To the new officers--We begin yet another year but this time with you at the helm. Let
it be another year we can be proud of. Let's set goals that challenge us to learn more about ourselves and each other--keeping
the same principle of "leaving it better than we found it". May we understand that each of us has a role, an idea, a
part of the process and that without each of us, it will not happen as easily or with as much joy! I challenge you to
"true teamwork" and developing the skills. You are the immediate leadership and you must continue to train those that
follow--lead by example! That is the only way to lead!
Underclassmen and women--I hope this experience has been challenging, inspiring, wonderful
and worth it all. You help make the future of who and what we are in Memorial Theatre. Help to make it stronger,
better, more fun and everlasting--far beyond each and everyone of us! Be aware of how you can contribute and how you
can continue to make a difference in our program. Take the time to thank the orchestra and band kids who allow us to
do musicals and also Mr. Shiu and Mr. Kastor. Walk with your head up but never be snotty because there is always someone
better. But don't look down--you might miss the pretty rainbow ahead. Feel good about what you have accomplished
thus far but be thinking what we could do better!
Enjoy the remainder of summer and get tapping! Keep checking for updates on when to
go to Miller Outdoor Theatre to see 42nd Street, when we might need some help up at school with costumes and cleaning
and when we might just be hanging around. Things will be starting right after the 4th of July if not before. We
have another busy season and cannot wait to get started! Enjoy some summer and see you soon!
